FEBRUARY 2022: Closing The Disparities Gap
NAHSE CT Inaugurates its First Scholarship. Apply Today!
Living up to its mission to empower the next generation of healthcare leaders, NAHSE CT launched a scholarship fund at the Third Annual C-Suite Meet & Greet in the summer of 2021. The fund quickly garnered support from the community, healthcare executives and organizations with donations over the past year. This has allowed the chapter to accomplish one of its biggest goals: to support CT graduate students’ education in healthcare management or related studies.
One standard practice of NAHSE CT is connecting and engaging with middle, high school and college students in mentoring programs to introduce them to careers in health. The scholarship offering adds another layer to NAHSE CT’s commitment and organizational mission of advancing the development of Black leaders along this pipeline from school to healthcare careers. Supporting the graduate education of student members with the scholarship while connecting them to a senior health service executive in the state for a year of mentorship will expose the scholarship recipients to a supportive environment for growth, leadership development and career navigation.
At a time when pandemic burnout is rampant in academia, alleviating potential sources of stress such as financial burden will go a long way in ensuring the chapter’s student members successfully complete their training.
