Message from The President

Greetings, N.A.H.S.E. CT members and friends:

I am honored to serve as your Chapter President for the 2023-2025 term. Thank you for trusting me with the responsibility to guide our work over the next two years.

Before I joined N.A.H.S.E., I stayed on the peripheral, attending events and interacting with others. But I quickly recognized the unique blend of professional development and personal connection that marks members of this organization. From transparent, authentic leadership stories to peers challenging and supporting each other, N.A.H.S.E. offers a space where both professional growth and genuine relationships thrive.

This blend of the personal and professional roots back to the 1930s when Black healthcare leaders informally gathered to improve healthcare for Black communities. By the 1960s, N.A.H.S.E. became a formal organization focused on unity, leadership, and improving healthcare delivery for underserved groups. This mission continues to guide our Connecticut Chapter, which was founded in 2013, and has been fueled by five administrations and notable milestones, such winning Chapter of the Year in 2020, or establishing our first scholarship in 2022.

Connecticut’s size creates an opportunity for impactful connections. Our nimbleness allows us to build relationships and networks that drive healthcare change, impacting the health of all who live and work here.

Whether you're a student, mid-career professional, or senior executive, N.A.H.S.E. is your space for connection, career development, and advancing equity. If you’re in leadership, N.A.H.S.E. also offers a network for talent and resources to grow your organization. As you engage with N.A.H.S.E., you’re not just joining an organization—you’re committing to a mission of service. We serve wholeheartedly, aiming to leave every interaction better than we found it.

I encourage you to connect and engage—participate in events, build your network, join a committee, and serve the community. Stay connected with us on social media and visit our EVENTS page for more information on what’s to come! We hope you JOIN US for what I can ensure will be a rewarding experience for you, both professionally and personally

I’d love to get to know you more, so feel free to reach out for a cup of coffee or tea, in-person or virtually. Community and connection are our strength.

Yours in Service,

Elisabeth Michel, MPH
